The motorcycle shops in Manali also rent out motorcycles. They are also available for one way trip in which you can leave the motorcycle in Leh and need not bring it back.

There are two routes to reach Leh but the route from Manali to Leh is liked very much by the adventure lovers. It is interesting to note that you have to pass through five high altitude passes to reach the place that include Rohtang La pass, Baralacha La pass, Lachulung La pass and Taglang La pass.

You need to face bad roads, glacial melting and landslides during your trip. The travel distance of 475 kilometers could not be compared with the travel in the normal highway. You need at least two days to cross this distance. When you leave Manali you will reach the Rohtang Pass 52 kilometers from Manali. Then you will reach Chandra Valley after crossing Khoksar. You will head to Tandi the place where the River Chandra and the River Bhaga meet. This is the only place where you can see a petrol pump in this highway. If you miss this then the next petrol pump is 365 kilometers away from this place in Leh. So you have to carry the extra fuel if you are traveling in a motor cycle depending upon the mileage of your vehicle.

The untamed streams will be flowing on the roads until you reach Sarchu. After you descend down from Baralacha La you may get an accommodation at Bharatpur. There are basic tents with toilet facilities to rest. From Keylong to Darcha the roads are better and smoother but from Darcha to Sarchu they are bad. You will also be down with acute mountain sickness when you reach Sarchu due to high altitude. The road from Sarchu to Pang is about 80 kilometers and is fairly good.

You pass along the Moore plains and after crossing the passes you will reach Upshi. Once you reach the top the view will be spectacular and breathtaking. As you reach Upshi the altitude will decrease gradually and you have to travel another 55 kilometers to reach Leh. The travel from Manali to Leh will give you the adventure for your lifetime.
