Director Kamal – One among the veteran directors of Modern times is famous for his wide range of movies directed. A career that has completed silver jubilee most recently has proved that he is proficient in directing all types of films – From parallel and art films to commercial hits and from action and romantic movies to melodrama and comedy. If we take 25 best movies of past 25 years or so, we can surely find a few priceless gems among them.

Among all the movies he directed, Kakkothi Kavile Appooppan Thadikal starring Revathy is so special to him, though it flopped at box office. Perhaps he may include his recent hit and critically well acclaimed movies – Gaddhama and Celluloid. Throughout the career he has witnessed storms as well as springs. Music and rain has always been a part of his movies and it happens only rarely, that he never uses rain in scenes or songs. In the movie Perumazhakalam (rainy season), almost all scenes were shot in heavy rain, depleting the real emotions and situations of the movie. Thus rain played the central character of his movie. He has included lovely rain songs in Madhura nombara kaattu and Azhakiya ravanan too.

His most noted films that were critically well acclaimed are Ulladakkam, Perumazhakalam, Karuthapakshikal, Madhura nombara kaattu, Celluloid, Gaddhama, Meghamalhar and Ee Puzhayum Kadannu.
