Anna Hazare And The Qualities Of Leadership In Him

 

Anna Hazare was born on 15th June 1937 in a small village in Bombay and no one would have dreamed that this boy is going to become a true leader in future. His father was an unskilled laborer and he was working for a meager sum of money in the Ayurvedha Ashram. But his father had to support his six children and so he was not able to give a good future to them. Anna Hazare was therefore taken by his childless aunt to Mumbai who sent him to school there. Later after completing his primary education, he started to sell flowers in the Dadar railway station to earn money. Soon he became the owner of two flower shops in Mumbai.

 

When there was a change in history in 1962 in South Asian countries, the military was recruiting people and Anna Hazare got a chance to enter into the Indian military service. He had to serve in the borders and indeed this had been a very risky job. Once he escaped from death and at that time he realized the importance of living and dying. He happened to read a small booklet about the development of nation and this changed his outlook towards life. He remained a bachelor and wanted to do something noteworthy in the society.

 

When he returned back to his village he saw that most of his villagers were addicted to alcohol. He educated them about the ill effects of alcohol and made all the elderly men gather in the temple. He made them swear in front of the deity that they would never consume alcohol in their life. This technique was just enough to portray the leadership qualities of Anna Hazare. In the same manner he made the people stop using tobacco products by putting all of them on fire on the day of Holi.

 

When his native town Ralegan Siddhi was suffering from severe drought and famine, he extended his helping hand to all the people there to get out of the situation. He always protested against violence and the atrocities. He started the People Movement and served as the head of the movement. For this, he was put in jail for three months. He raised his voice against corruption against NCP leaders. As a way of protest he started a fast unto death on 9th August 2003 and this was ended on 17th August 2003.

 

He guided a group of people for the RTI act and due to his efforts powerful Maharashtra RTI act was launched. This was later on extended throughout India. He was continuously fighting corruption and was stressing the importance of Jan Lokpal Bill. According to his this bill will change the entire system of government. To make this an act, he went to fast unto death which came to end after the UPA government’s promise to make his dreams come true. The battle is still going on and this has made Anna Hazare photos and Anna Hazare videos famous among people. He became a true leader in the hearts of millions.
