The picturesque town of Ziro is located in the northeastern regions of Arunachal Pradesh at a height of above 5000 meters above sea level. In fact the altitude always brings forth an envelope of clouds on the town that greatly augments the mystic beauty of the place. There is also a cluster of small hills that surrounds the region. These are covered with pine trees and bamboo groves. There is a concentration of cultivation and fishing among the people of the region as the mainstay of the occupational pattern. There is a unique culture that can be seen in the lives of the Apatani tribes that inhabit the region.

There is a unique Tarin fish farm that you can visit. This is located at a higher altitude and presents a beautiful and picturesque appeal. You will also be able to see some of the unique creations of handicrafts that are produced here. They are available for sale as well at a crafts center situated here. Take your pick of those extraordinary works in bamboo and the colorful quilts that are available.

There is a distinct style of weaving that is prevalent here at Ziro. And this is evident from the long jackets and shawls that are worn by the locals as well as made by them for sale. The color schemes and the patterns that are woven are beautiful. The people here also have to their credit a system of paddy cultivation and irrigation for the same that’s exemplary at such heights.

There is the Tale Wildlife Sanctuary here that can also be visited. Amidst the presence of a variety of flora and fauna you can see plenty of different species of birds. And also animals like the snow leopard, tiger and bears among others. You will also be lucky to spot the Hoolock Gibbon which is a rare species of the ape and reported to be found only here.

There are trekking trips, hiking and camping expeditions that are conducted at Ziro. You will be able to find professional companies that carry them out or even form your own group.

There are various roadway routes that will take you to this beautiful place. You can access it from Itanagar, Tezpur, New Bongaigaon and Lakhimpur. You can access Ziro through bus services which are available on a regular basis. These are luxury deluxe buses and thus comfortable traveling will not be a problem.
