The city of Tezpur is located in the Sonitpur district of the Indian state of Assam in the eastern region of the country. This beautiful modern hub of activities in the state is also a uniquely ancient city that has developed on the banks of the beautiful waters of Brahmaputra River. It also lies in close proximity of Guwahati. For a city that is carrying out the work of providing support for modern life within and around the region there is an extremely calming effect Tezpur will have on you. it is serenely beautiful amidst the cooling waters of the river.

This is also a hub of communication between different parts of the state as well as the entire eastern region of the country. You will be able to avail different kinds of transport services to various parts of Assam and in states like that of Arunachal Pradesh and places like Tawang, Itanagar, Kaziranga and Guwahati among others. The best time to travel to Tezpur is between the months of October to May.

There are several places that are here in the city that can be a part of your sightseeing itinerary. For all those who are lovers of nature and the animal world a trip should always commence from the Kaziranga National Park. Then there is the Orang National Park and the Nameri National Park that are within approachable distance from Tezpur. There is also a tiger sanctuary at Pakke and a bird sanctuary at close proximity that is named as Eaglenest. A wide variety of animals and birds along with trees and flowers will be seen at these places.

Take a trip to the Bharali River that has plenty of water sport options available like water rafting and boating. There are conducted tours for trekking and hiking too that are available from here to various neighboring places of interest. Camping is also popular in places like Nameri.

Tezpur has plenty of temples that are also popularly visited by thousands of tourists and devotees every year. Among these the Bhairabi temple, the Mahabhairab temple, Rudrapath, Nag Shankar temple are well known. Other places of interesting travel destinations are Bamuni pahar and the hazara pukhuri  which is a pond of the Gupta period of rule in India.

The city of Tezpur is also well connected by several airlines and railways. Thus traveling here from any other part of the country is not a problem. There is also a well connected bus service that will bring you here from other places and you will also be able to take these services to reach other places in the region.
