One of the holiest places in the country the city of Dwarka is located in the Indian state of Gujarat. This is believed to be the kingdom of Lord Krishna as is stated in many ancient texts and mythological records. This is where he had established his kingdom and ruled as well. It is visited each year by thousands of devotees and is regarded with much reverence and worship. There are many interesting sequences to this ancient city that was submerged in water and damaged by the effects of the waters several times. The present day Dwarka is understood to be the rebuilt on the ruins of the ancient city for the seventh time.

One of the main attractions of Dwarka is the temple of Dwarkadhish. Though the first temple was believed to have been built by the grandson of Lord Krishna himself this temple was built in the 16th century AD. It is built from a combination of sand and limestone. There are several shrines in the temple that comprise of Lord Krishna along with Vasudeva and Devaki as well as Rukmini Devi.

The city of Dwarka is a place of an endless journey of temples and various places of Hindu worship. There is also the temple complex of Bet Dwarka located on an island at a small distance from the mainland.  This is also a destination of a temple of Lord Krishna and has been of increasing interest among archeologists and historians. There have been ample findings in the region that has brought to light corroborating facts with legends of the ancient city of Dwarka and the same being submerged under the sea. The findings are however still scanned and studied for further and more conclusive evidence.

There are several other temples at Dwarka that you can visit. Primary among these are the Nageshwar temple and the Somnath temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, Shree Swaminarayan Temple and the Rukmini hrid which is a collection of 7 ponds.

There are different ways of reaching Dwarka city by airways, railways and even a vast network of roads and luxury bus services. you will be able to opt from among different hotel options from luxury accommodation facilities to even budget accommodation hotels. There are special festivals that are also an integral part of the culture at Dwarka. You can be a part of these huge events and colorful arrangements like those of Janmashtami and Holi among others.
