Yuzvendra Chahal Biography

Yuzvendra Chahal is an Indian cricketer from Haryana who is involved with domestic cricket and IPL matches. He is a chess player too. Currently a member of Indian cricket team, he made his ODI debut on June 11, 2016 v Zimbabwe and has played 3 ODIs till now. He made his Twenty20 International debut against Zimbabwe at Harare Sports Club on 18 June 2016. He is one among those rare Indian international cricketers who has been associated with another form of sports too. He represents India at many international level chess tournaments in junior level and his name is listed in World Chess Federation's official site too. But Chahal is more successful in cricket.

 

His full name is Yuzvendra Singh Chahal. He was born in Jind, Haryana in 1990. Initially he was a chess player who played for India at junior levels. He is a leg spinner of cricket matches. He made headlines for the first time in 2009 when he took 34 wickets in the National Under-19 Cooch Behar Trophy. He was the leading wicket taker of the tournament. Chahal made his first-class debut for Haryana in 2009. He played his first IPL season in 2011 after he was signed by Mumbai Indians. But he didn’t get opportunity to play any match. But he found place in Mumbai Indians’ squad for Champions League Twenty20. He marked his T20 debut with this tournament.

 

He played only a few matches in domestic cricket during this period. Since 2011 for the next three seasons he played only matches and picked up just 16 wickets. In 2014 IPL, he was picked up by Bangalore Challengers for 10 lakh Indian rupees. He received Man of the Match award against Delhi Daredevils in the series. He made his international debut in 2016 playing against Zimbabwe.
