Virat Kohli Biography

Virat Kohli is an Indian right hand batsman who is a rising star in international cricket. He was born on November 5th 1988 in New Delhi. His parents are Prem Kohli and Saroj Kohli. He is not only a batsman but also a medium pace right arm bowler. The victorious Indian team at U/19 World Cup Cricket held in Malaysia was headed by him and scored 235 runs in 6 matches including a century against West Indies team.

His first class debut was on 23rd November 2006 when Delhi opposed Tamil Nadu. Virat Kohli became very popular when he showed more affection towards cricket than towards his family when he played for Delhi in the Ranji Trophy. He had to oppose Karnataka on the day of his father’s death. He was much needed by his team when he was even more needed at home. He chose to bat and could score 90 runs even in that gloomy situation. This was remarked by the team captain, Mithun Manhas as an act of great commitment to make his innings crucial.

Virat Kohli has finished his higher secondary education. When he was living in Uttam Nagar, he was trained at the West Delhi Cricket Academy from the year 1998. He took part in matches at the Sumit Dogra Academy in Vasundara Enclave. He was looked at by other boys as a hero of that time. He flirted with the actress Genelia D’Souza. His nickname is Cheeku. His girl friend is Sanjana, the Kannada actress.

In the 2008 Indian Premier League he was bought for $30,000 and played for Royal Challengers Bangalore. He could not perform well at that time that he could score just 165 runs in 13 innings but later in the later session to follow he improved and was retained by Royal Challengers Bangalore. He made his debut in 2008 in the one day international when he met Sri Lanka in the Idea Cup. His participation helped a lot for the winning of the team. Thus India could win its first one day series against Sri Lanka in Sri Lankan soil. He took part in 2009 ICC Champions Trophy and tri-nations tournament in Bangaladesh in January 2010.

Virat Kohli was able to get the fame of third Indian who scored two ODI centuries before he celebrated his 22nd birthday after Tendulkar and Suresh Raina. He is the fastest Indian who scored 1000 runs in the ODI cricket. In 2011 World Cup, he scored a centure on World Cup debut with a total run of 282 in 9 innings.
