Usha Sangwan Biography 
UshaSangwan is a business executive who currently serves as Managing Director at Life Insurance Corporation of India, India’s biggest insurance company. Usha is the first woman to achieve this position. She is serving the position since November 1, 2013 and serves as Executive Director of Corporate Communication.Earlier she was associated with LIC Housing Finance, a sister firm of LIC. She has experience of more than 30 years in all core areas of life insurance including Marketing, Personnel, Operations, Direct Marketing, International Operations, Housing Finance, Group Business and Corporate Communications.
Since young Usha was determined to become a business woman. Mathematics and business studies were her favourite subjects. She joined LIC as Direct Recruit Officer in 1981 and she slowly worked her way to reach the top. She is the female leader to reach this position, and created headlines in 2013 following her recruitment. She completed Master's in Economics and Human Resources from Punjab University before joining the corporate sector in 1981. She also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management.With more than three decades working experience with LIC, she held the positions of divisional manager of Delhi, general manager for marketing at LIC Housing Finance, and the executive director of direct marketing and international operations.
It was her decision to leverage on social media, a marketing strategy which attributed a lot to the increase of customer base for the insurance company. She took responsibility of housing finance arm of LIC to the international market to raise Rs 1853 million through global depository receipts, and thus played a significant role in the global growth of the company. Women Leadership Award for the BFSI Sector by the Institute of Public Enterprise and the Brand Slam Leadership Award by CMO Asia are the major honours received by her.
