Alice Vaidyan Biography 
Alice Vaidyan is an Indian administrator, who became the first female chairman of General Insurance Corporation of India. Vaidyan became the first woman to get the top post at a public sector insurer in the country. She is also the managing director of the insurance company. She started her professional career in 1983 in the field of insurance, and has 35 years of experience in this field.
Since school days she was brilliant in studies. In those days, brilliant students mostly chose engineering or medicine as career options, and Alice too was not different. So Alice too started dreaming of a career in medical field. But later she felt it was not her field. Her decisions were well promoted by her parents, who stood with her to pursue her dreams. Since young she had good reading habit. She also practised violin. Her father was a banker who retired from State Bank of India as Senior Manager and worked in cities like Chennai, Hyderabad etc. Her childhood days were spent in these cities and later she pursued graduation from St. Joseph College, Iranjalakkuda.
After receiving training from Boston Harvard Business School, she got into professional career in 1983. She joined India Assurance Company at Thiruvananthapuram. She moved to Ahmedabad in 1986, and in between she got married to Dr. M. Geervargeese Vaidyan. He was also into banking field, who has served as Deputy Managing Director of SBI. Currently the couple is settled in Mumbai.
She has more than 10 years of experience with GIC. She joined the company as Deputy Managing Director in 2008. After 8 years she became Chairman. In 2017 her name was listed at position 7 in the list of ‘Most powerful women in Business’ of Fortune India.
