Swapna Biography

Swapna is an Indian actress who has worked in south Indian movies as well as Bollywood during 1980’s. She started her career through a film in Telugu followed by Bharathi Raja’s Tamil flick, Tik Tik Tik released in 1981. She worked aside Kamal Hassan and Madhavi in this movie and movie proved to be a blockbuster. Later she appeared in many south Indian movies belonging to Kannada, Malayalam and Telugu. Malayalam films 'Ahimsa' and 'Thrishna' released in 1981 with Mammootty and Swapna in lead roles were huge successes at box office. Both these movies were directed by I. V. Sasi. Later she moved towards Bollywood and got settled with family life after marrying Raman Khanna. Currently she is not active in film industry.

Among her Hindi movies, Teri Meherbaniyan is her noted work where she played the role of a widow, who marries Raj Kiran in the climax. The movie was a huge success at box office. Kis kaam key eh rishte, Dak Bangla, Hukumat, Izzatdar and Janam Se Pehle are other noted Bollywood works. With early 1990’s, she appeared in character roles for movies like Swarg Jaisaa Ghar, Kurbaan, Kis Kaam Ke Yeh Rishte, Zindagi ek juaa, Umar Pachpan Ki Dil Bachpan Ka, Izzatdaar and Farishtay.

She is credited to many successful movies in Malayalam. She was active in the Malayalam industry during 1980’s and quit the industry in 1990, the last movie being Kadathanadan Ambadi. Premalekhanam, Miniimol Vathicanil, Paalam, Uyarangalil, Bullet and Jeevante Jeevan are other noted works. Currently she is busy along with her husband in an event management company called Sangini Entertainment that organizes dance events across India as well as abroad.
