Sonika Kaliraman Biography 
Sonika Kaliraman is a well-known female wrestler from Haryana. She is the daughter of the legendary freestyle wrestler Chandgi Ram who was an iconic figure of 1970s and 1980s, and a quite popular figure in traditional Indian wrestling. He was also a recipient of Asiad gold in year 1970. Carrying forward her father’s tradition, Sonika too established herself in the field of wrestling and she won title of Bharat Kesri in Bharat Kesri Dangal in 2001. She was the first female wrestler to won this title. She learnt this sport from her father. Sonika was a contestant of the celebrity reality show, Bigg Boss aired on Sony TV in 2011.
Sonika Kaliraman was born in Delhi in year 1983. Born as the daughter of former wrestler Chandgi Ram, she was trained by her father since young. Chandgi Ram is also known for taking initiatives to bring females to this sport in the 1990s. Chandgi Ram had four daughters and he dreamt all daughters to become wrestlers. Now Sonika is one among the 200 female wrestlers of the country, who took wrestling as profession. She is also one among 50 women who represented India in international events. Kaliraman is now married to US-based businessman, Siddharth Malik.
During 1998-1999 tour to Poland she alleged that her coach sexually harassed her. She was a member of junior team then. Though a complaint was given to her father as well as the WFI president GS Mander, no action was taken against coach. But GS Mander later said that he will file a defamation suit against her. Apart from her wrestling career, she has participated in two reality shows on television - Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 2 in 2009 and Bigg Boss 5 in 2011. She was evicted on day 49 in Bigg Boss 5.
