Shaiju Mathew Biography

Shaiju Mathew is a noted writer and screenwriter known for his 2010 book Knocked Up. He is also known as a movie reviewer and director. Super successful Marathi movie Timepass is loosely based on his English book Knocked Up. Telugu movie Andhra Pori also drew inspirations from this book. Knocked Up was his debut book, and it received overwhelming response from critics and audience. He later authored two more books - Alfie The Elf (2016) and A Pocketful Of Sunshine (2017). He has also scripted a few short films and feature films in Malayalam, English and Hindi languages. He is also a movie critic who publishes his writings in his blog, newspapers and magazines.

Shaiju Mathew is of Kerala origin. He is currently settled in Vancouver, Canada. He studied at St. Josephs Boys' High School Khadki, Pune and later, human resource management at Pune University. He started his career as a singer and a screenplay writer. He later moved to Bangalore where he wrote his first book in the year 2010 - Knocked Up. It’s bit surprising that he took only 20 days to complete his book, with elements inspired from his childhood and friends. He publicized the book through social media, and the book turned to be a bestseller.

Mathew's next novel is a period drama was A Pocketful Of Sunshine. Before that he published one book - Alfie The Elf. This book also took a short time of 9 days to write. Mathew is also associated with Citadel Cinemas, where he works as a screenwriter for short films and feature films, predominantly in Malayalam. He scripted the short film Oru Thundu Padam starring Aju Varghese.
