S. Rajasekharan Biography

Dr. S. Rajasekharan is a literary critic and poet belonging to Malayalam literature. He is a former Pro-Vice Chancellor of the prestigious Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit in Kalady. He has published more than 30 books on Malayalam literature and culture which include poetry, literary criticism as well as research works. He has also completed one travelogue titled Europpil Manjukalath - (2012) and has also edited numerous works. Many of his works have become a part of Kerala college syllabuses and often used as reference books too. He received the 'Thayat Award' for Literary Criticism in 1991. 'The Samskarakeralam Award 2000, 'S.B.T. Literary Award for Literary Criticism 2010' and Dr. C. P. Menon Award 2012 for ecology & Literary Criticism are other major honours received by him.

 

He belongs to Cherthala of Alappuzha district, born in the year 1946. After completion of studies, he served as a professor in various colleges across Kerala. He received a doctorate for his thesis titled ‘Vailoppilli's - Vision of Life and Poetry’ in the year 1991. He worked at the Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit in Kalady for over 30 years and retired as the Director of the Regional Centre, Thiruvananthapuram in 2006. He is an approved research guide of all the three universities of Kerala and has guided numerous students for their works.

 

He was the founder president of the Teachers' Assosiasion of Sree Sankaracharya Sanskrit University in 1996 and also the founder Chairman of the 'Maampoo', an online site on Malayalam language. Paristhithidarsanam Malayalakavithayil, Navodhanantharakavitha and Paattuprasthaanam: Prathirodhavum Samanvayavum are his recent published literary criticism works.
