Yet he was not able to reach the status and success of iconic figure of Indian cricket – Sunil Gavaskar.

Rohan Sunil Gavaskar was born in Kanpur on 20 February 1976. He was given the name Rohan Jaivishwa by Sunil in honour of his three favourites - Rohan Kanhai, M. L. Jaisimha and Rohan's uncle, Gundappa Vishwanath. But he came to be known by the name Rohan Gavaskar later. He did his schooling at St. Xaviers Collegiate School, Kolkata and Bombay Scottish School. His last ODI came during the 2004 ICC Champions Trophy. He has played domestic cricket representing Bengal in the Ranji Trophy and East Zone in the Duleep Trophy.
