Richa Mishra Biography

Richa Mishra is an Indian swimmer from Delhi who has participated in several national and international matches. She bagged many gold medals in the 34th National Games held in 2011.

 

She is employed in police department. She is the first women to clock the best Indian time in 800m freestyle and won three gold medals at the 65th National aquatic championships at the Veer Budhu Bhagat Stadium. She also set two senior championship marks in the 800m and 200m freestyle swimming.

 

She has won two gold medals in 200 m backstroke and 800 m freestyle at the 66th Enerzal Senior National Aquatic Championships. She also bagged the women’s 400 m freestyle title. She was into doping controversy during the 2010 Commonwealth Games and after that she resurrected to compete in the 17 individual competitions and won in 11 of them in the National Games.

 

In recognition of her talents, she was adjudged the best female athlete by the Services Sports Control Board and was given the Raja Bhalendra Trophy for Champions in the 34th National Games.

 

In November 2012, she was caught for using the drugs and was banned for doping violation for two years.
