Renedy Singh Biography

Renedy Singh is a retired football player from Indian national team, who currently serves as the assistant coach of FC Pune City of Indian Super League. He has also played for Kerala Blasters in the inaugural season of Indian Super League in 2014, before he turned a coach. In his professional career, he remained a top player associated with Mohan Began, one of the leading football clubs in India, during 1996-2004. He played 76 matches for this team as a mid-fielder scoring 7 goals. He later played many matches for different clubs across India, before he turned a coach most recently. He has retired from football as a player.

 

His full name is Potsangbam Renedy Singh. He was born in Imphal on 20 June 1979. He graduated from TFA academy in Jamshedpur, where he spent 6 years. He started off playing football with Mohan Bagan in 1996, and was associated with the team till 2004. In between he also played for East Bengal Club during 1997-2000. It was his first signed professional contract. He later played for East Bengal Club, EverReady SA and JCT FC at different points of time during his active career. He is also known to be a dead-ball specialist and one of the most experienced members of the 2011 Asian Cup squad.

 

Noted football Sunil Chetri once remarked that the most under-rated and unnoticed Indian footballer. The duo has played many matches together for JCT FC, giving some memorable performances. Their combination played an amazing combination at National Football League 2006-2007 and I-League 2007-08 for JCT FC and helped the team to finish second and third positions respectively. He joined national team in 1998 and played 59 matches for team India till 2011, scoring 4 goals.
