Ravichandran Ashwin Biography 
The man who played a small but a significant role in India World Cup victory, Ravichandaran Ashwin was born on 17 September 1986. He lives in Chennai and went to SSN College of engineering. He also played cricket for Tamil Nadu cricket team and is the only bowler after Ajantha Mendis to be able to bowl the carom ball.
He is a tall off spinner and bowls with a clean high arm action. He started off with Ranji trophy matches for Tamil Nadu and had an impressive first season. He continued to play well in the domestic circuit and was later awarded a grade D contract by the BCCI. His first national call came after Harbhajan Singh opted out of the South Africa home series due to personal commitments. He hogged the lime light in the IPL as he bowled with the new ball with a miserly run rate of 6.10 and taking 13 scalps.
In the IPL he plays for Chennai Super kings a team that won two consecutive IPL seasons. He played an important role in their victory especially in the final when he took prize wicket of Chris Gayle the one man army in the opposition. On the field he is known for his street smart bowling skills and carom balls, off the field he is quite a shy and reserved person.
With 16 ODI scalps in 9 matches and a miserly economy rate, and 34 IPL scalps with a record economy rate of 6.1 for this format Ravichandaran Ashwin is said to be the second most talented off-spinner in the country and is giving Harbhajan Singh a fight for his place in the team.
He was felicitated by the Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi after the 2011 victorious World Cup campaign. He is now engaged to his school mate Preethi.
