Rambha Biography

Rambha is a successful Indian actress of 90’s most popular for her glamour roles. She was successful in all south Indian languages as well as Hindi. Among her Tamil movies, most successful one was Ullathai Allitha opposite Karthik released in the year 1996 which happened to be her debut movie as main heroine in Tamil too. She appeared as a glamorous girl in this movie. Uzhavan was her first movie in which Bhanu Priya and Prabhu Ganesan were the leading stars. Other Tamil hits include – Arunachalam with Rajnikanth, Minsara kanna and Ninaythein vanthai with Vijay and VIP with Prabhu Deva.

Rambha was born as VijayaLakshmi in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh on June 5 1974. Her debut movie was Kannada - Server Somanna opposite Jaggesh released in the year 1990. In 1992 she debut Malayalam with all time classic movie Sargam. She played the leading role opposite Vineeth in this movie. But in this movie, her name was Amrita. Same year Kamal’s successful movie Champakulam Thachan was released in which she played leading role. In this movie too, she was casted opposite Vineeth. But, by this time she became popular in Telugu and slowly she shifted to other south Indian languages.      

When Malayalam hit ‘Hitler’ was made to Telugu with Chiranjeevi in the leading role, Rambha reprised the role played by Shobhana in the original. This movie was the comeback movie of Chiranjeevi after a few flops. When this movie was remade to Hindi with Sunil Shetty in leading role, she did the same role again. The movie was titled Krodh. She has also appeared in these Telugu movies during 90’s - Aa Okkati Adakku, Tholi Muddhu, Pacha Thoranam, Bangaru Kutumbam, Allari Premikudu, Bavagaru Bagunnara, Ganesh, Muddula Priyudu, Dharma Chakkaram, Navvandi Lovvandi, Love Story 1999, Alluda Majaka, Bombay Priyudu, Mama Bagunnavaa, Hitler and Dharma Chakkaram. She has also appeared in special roles in the movies - Akkada Ammayi Ikkada Abbayi and Bhairava Dweepam.  

Among all her Bollywood movies, she was most successful with Salman Khan. She has acted with Salman Khan in two movies – Bandhan and Judwaa and both these movies were successful too. She has also acted in movies like Kroadh, Qahar, Jaani Dushman: Ek Anokhi Kahani, Dhanveer, Jung, Gharwali Baharwali, Jallad, Beti No.1, Quick gun Murugan and Kyo Kii... Main Jhuth Nahin Bolta. She returned back to Malayalam movies with Mayilattam and Chronic Bachelor the biggest hits. Other movies are Sidharth, Kochi rajavu, Payum puli and Kabadi kabadi.
