Priya Raman Biography

Priya Raman is a former south Indian film actress who was active in the era of 1990’s. She has worked in Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu languages and has been one of the successful heroines of mid-1990’s. She made her film debut through 1993 Tamil movie Valli and later moved to other languages. Arthana released the same year marked her Malayalam debut and later she played lead roles in numerous hits like Kashmiram, No. 1 Snehatheeram Banglore North, Thumboli Kadappuram, Indraprastham, Kalyana pittennu, Bhoopathi, Aaraam Thampuran, Sparsham, Sainyam, Manthrikam etc.

As a film actress, she was most successful in Malayalam film industry. She got opportunity to play main lead opposite all the three superstars of Malayalam film industry – Mammootty, Mohanlal and Suresh Gopi and has worked with almost all lead actors of the industry. She is married to film actor Ranjith, a character artist of Malayalam and Tamil films. They fell in love in the sets of Tamil film Nesam Pudhsu in which they were paired. At present she is busy with Malayalam and Tamil television serials. Tamil serial Durga and Malayalam serial Kkavyanjali are her noted small screen roles.

She was born in Aluva on 14 September 1974. Her first film - Valli, in 1993 was produced by Rajinikanth. Her second film, Arthana directed by I. V. Sasi was her first Malayalam movie. Thus she became a popular actress of Malayalam who was frequently paired with all the leading stars. Though she has done less number of movies in Tamil, Soorya Vamsam is one of her noted roles. In this movie, she played the grey shaded role of Gowri, who rejects Sarath Kumar’s love.
