R. Sarathkumar Biography 
R. Sarathkumar is an Indian film actor, politician and body builder. He is serving as the president of the South Indian Film Artists Association. He started his career in Tamil cinema by playing negative roles and after his lead role in the film Suriyan he became very popular. He often has played the role of honest policeman. He started a new political party in Tamil Nadu.
He was born on 14th July 1954 in New Delhi. His parents are M. Ramanathan and Pushpa Leela. He has one sister, Mallika Ramanathan. He studied at The New College in Chennai and obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics. He served as the member of Rajya Sabha for Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam.
Before he entered into the film industry, he worked as a journalist. He married Chaya and has two daughters Varalaxmi and Pooja through her. As he was linked with actresses Heera and Nagma, the marriage ended. Then he married Radhika in 2001 and has one son Rahul born in 2004. He is the step father to the daughter of Raadhika, Rayanne.
He has acted in films of Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam languages. He received great appreciation for his films Cheran Pandiyan, Pulan Visaranai, Nattamai, Suriyan, Suryavamsam, Natpukaaga, and Pazhassi Raja. He acted in Pazhassi Raja and three more movies in Malayalam language. He got Cinema Express Award for Best Villain for his role in the film, Pulanvisaranai in 1998. He received his Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Actor for the first time in 1994 for Nattamai. He received Filmfare Best Tamil Actor Award for his film Suryavamsam in 1997. Again he received Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Actor and Filmfare Best Tamil Actor Award for the film Natpukkaaga in 1998. He received M. G. R. Award in 1997.
