Prashant Narayanan Biography

Prashant Narayanan is a Bollywood actor known for supporting roles. He gained popularity through Murder 2. He has acted in Bollywood movies - Chhal, Waisa Bhi Hota Hai Part II, Bombil and Beatrice, Via Darjeeling and Shadows of Time. He won the Screen Award for Best Villain for his performance in Murder 2. He was born in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala and brought up in Delhi. In 2012, he acted in renowned Malayalam director Lenin Rajendran’s Malayalam movie – Edava paathi, in which Manisha Koirala played lead role. He got this role which was actually booked for veteran actor Jagathy Sreekumar; but he couldn’t do it following a major accident.

He was born in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala and brought up in Delhi. He was interested in sports during college days and was national champion in badminton. While studying at the Kirori Mal College of Delhi University, he joined theatre group - Act 1. He worked aside talented film actors like Ashish Vidyarthi and Manoj Bajpai, while he was associated with Act 1. In 1991, he shifted to Mumbai to start an ad agency. During this time he worked as assistant of leading film directors like Subhash Ghai, Govind Nihalani and Shyam Benegal. He also worked as a costume designer for the Doordarshan TV series Chanakya. During this time, he came close with theater once again.

His first onscreen appearance happened in the year 2002 with the movie, Chaal. For Hansal Mehta’s movie, he played the role of a hitman working in the Mumbai underworld. Though the movie was not a commercial success, he was highly appraised for his portrayal of a hot-tempered, fun-loving goon. Shashanka Ghosh's Waisa Bhi Hota Hai Part II was his next movie in which he played a similar role and got appreciation as well. Thus he became a part of the Bollywood industry doing grey shaded roles.
