Parimarjan Negi Biography 
Parimarjan Negi is a chess player from Delhi. He is the fourth youngest grandmaster in history, who achieved this feat in 2006 at the age of 13. He is the second youngest Indian chess player to get grandmaster title, after Praggnanandhaa Rameshbabu. Negi has won many Indian and international titles for India, and has remained Indian and Asian champion before. He is a recipient of the prestigious Arjuna Award in 2010 by the Government of India. When he received GM title in 2006, he broke the record of Pentala Harikrishna, the youngest Indian GM till then.
He was born in New Delhi on 9 February 1993. Negi won the under 10 division at the Asian Youth Chess Championship in 2002 in Tehran, his first major win in the field of sports, and since then he has registered many Indian and international titles to his name. He achieved his first grandmaster norm at the 2005/06 Hastings International Chess Congress, followed by his second norm the same year. Negi earned his third and final GM norm on 1 July 2006, thus earning Grandmaster title. He is still counted one among the youngest world players to claim this prestigious title. When he won this title, he became the youngest chess grandmaster ever in India, though his record was later broken.
Negi won Philadelphia International Open Tournament in June 2008 with a score of 7/9, one of his major wins of his career, followed by Politiken Cup in Copenhagen with 8.5/10, on tiebreaks over Boris Avrukh in 2009. In between he finished second, behind Abhijeet Gupta, at the World Junior Chess Championship in Gazientep in 2008. National Premier Chess Championship 2010 in Delhi and Asian Chess Championship held in Ho Chi Minh 2012 are other major wins.
