N. Siki Reddy Biography

Sikki Reddy is an Indian sportswoman who plays badminton. She is best known for plays in doubles and mixed doubles. She along with Pranav Chopra won the gold medal at the South Asian Games in mixed doubles in 2016. The duo also won Brazil and Russia Open Grand Prix title in the mixed doubles event the same year. In 2018 Common Wealth Games held at Gold Coast, she won Gold at mixed doubles and bronze in women’s doubles. In 2014 Asian Games at Incheon her team won bronze. In South Asian Games, she has won three golds, one silver and one medal in the years 2016 and 2019, representing doubles and mixed doubles teams.

 

Sikki Reddy was born on 18 August 1993 in Kodad, Telangana. She is a left-handler, who received training from Pullela Gopichand, her role model and inspiration. She has also faced a career-threatening knee surgery like her mentor, but she bounced back every time. She began playing badminton at the age of 9 in a summer camp in 2003. From there on she started taking the game seriously. She joined the Gopichand academy in Gachibowli, and had to travel 100 kms a day for her training classes. When she witnessed tremendous progress in her game, she grew more serious and dedicative towards it.

 

She touched her higher international ranking of 13 at XD 23 March 2017 and 17 most recently at WD 13 August 2019. Now she is enjoying her career peaks after a streak of consecutive wins at international matches. She often beats Saina Nehwal in singles games and has once lost to her in the Youth Commonwealth Games final. Once she had a knee damage which could have destroyed her career, but she bounced back.
