M. A. Prajusha Biography

M. A. Prajusha is a successful sportswoman and track and field athlete from Thrissur, Kerala. She competes in long jump and triple jump, and earlier held the national record of triple jump with a mark of 13.72 m. She broke the record of yet another Kerala athlete, Mayookha Johny. 13.72 m is her personal best in triple jump, while 6.55 m in long jump. Prajusha won silver medal in the women's long jump of the track and field event at 2010 Commonwealth Games held at Delhi. She is only the fourth Indian woman to cross 6.50 m, most of them from her home state Kerala.

 

Her full name is Maliakhal Anthony Prajusha. She was born on 20 May 1987 in Thrissur, Kerala. Ambazhakad is her native place. She currently works with Indian Railways. She is still continuing her training under M. A. George, a coach at the Sports Authority of India. Year 2010 was a good year for Prajusha in her professional journey. She earned a gold medal in long jump at Indian grand pix held at Bangalore in 2010, registering her best personal performance. 6.36 metre was her previous best time. She also earned silver medal in the women's long jump of the track and field event at 2010 Commonwealth Games, among her biggest achievements.

 

She is married to Malayali athlete K P Bimin since 2015, and theirs was a love marriage with parents’ consent. They fell in love during their sports career. She continues her professional career after marriage too, with the support of her husband. For the last 10 years she is training under M. A. George.
