Kajal Kiran Biography

Kajal Kiran is a former Bollywood actress known for her lead role opposite Rishi Kapoor in the movie, Hum kise se kum nahin. This blockbuster movie directed by Nasir Hussain was released in the year 1977. The movie is still remembered for the chemistry between onscreen couple, Rishi Kapoor and Kajal Kiran and its blockbuster songs pictured on Kiran like, Yeh ladka hai Allah kaisa hai diwana. Wardaat & Humse Badhkar Kaun opposite Mithun Chakraborty were also declared hits. Yet she couldn’t leave a mark in Bollywood and disappeared from screen very soon. Towards the second half of 1980’s she appeared in supporting roles and has also appeared in a few horror movies. Later she has acted in a few Malayalam movies opposite Mammootty and Mohanlal.  

When she did the movie, Hum kise se kum nahin for Nasir Hussain she had signed a contract. So, even after expel of the contract, film producers didn’t approach her thinking that contract has not expelled yet. “Aankhiyon ke Jharokhon se” and “Ballika Badhu” were a few such projects that she lost this way. She waited for good directors and movies and time just passed by. Later when she got roles, they were stunt heroine roles and for B’ grade movies. So, despite having good looks of a modern girl, Kiran never managed to reach the height of successful heroines of her time.

Later she appeared in horror movies like Saboot, Dahshat, Haveli & Saaya. She was later approached for item songs and supporting roles. A few exceptions include - “Zabardast” with Raj Kiran, “Naya Johny” with Sajid Khan and, “Saboot” with Navin Nischal. Kajal later moved to south and was paired opposite Mohanlal in Uyarangalil and with Mammootty in Ee Lokam Evide Kure Manushyar.
