Joygopal Podder Biography

Joygopal Podder is an Indian writer who was born in London. He is best known for crime fiction genre of writings in short period of time and his name was entered in the Limca Book of Records – 2014 for publishing 12 crime fiction novels in a short period of 29 months. Earlier too his name appeared in Limca Book of Records three times, for writing crime novels in quick succession. The Landlord's Secret And Other Stories, Merchants Of Dreams and Goodness are some of his major works.

He was born in London in 1960. His family moved to Delhi when he was only 8 years old and later they got settled here. Podder is currently settled in Gurgaon with his wife and two daughters. He completed his graduation from University of Delhi and in those days, he regularly contributed to the magazine – Target. After studies he worked in the marketing field for long 17 years before he completely concentrated on to his writing career. He is also associated with charity and NGOs raising money for poor.

But the real twist happened when he restarted writing once again in 2010 at the age of 50. His wife got ill and he started writing because of his love to wife. ‘Deceivers’ was his first published novel which received good response from readers. The book included two thrillers compiled together in one book. Since then, in a short interval of about 4 years he published 17 books, majority belonging to thrillers. He also published 2 romantic works and one non-fiction and has entered his name three times successively in the Limca book of records.
