Dutee Chand Biography 
Dutee Chand is a professional sprinter who is the current national champion in women's 100 metres event. Winner of several state, national and international level championships, Chand was dropped from the Commonwealth Games 2015 at the last minute stating Hyperandrogenism, leading to a lot of controversies. She was given extensive support by former athlete Santhi Soundarajan who was a victim of similar case years ago. Later the hyperandrogenism regulation for female sports was suspended for 2 years by Court of Arbitration for Sport in July, which removed the suspension of this sprinter and allowed her to compete.
Chand was born on 3 February 1996 in Gopalpur of Jajpur district Odisha. She was born into a poor weaver family and has 6 sisters. She has one brother too. She is the third among 7 siblings. Her elder sister Saraswati Chand, who was an athlete has inspired her a lot to choose the same career. She is currently second year student at KIIT University, Bhuvaneshwar. Ranjan Mohapatra and Nila Madhab Deo are her coaches. Since 2006, she trains at Government Sports Hostel, Bhuvaneshwar. Currently she is working as a ticket collector in Central Railway Station Mumbai since 2014.
She has won two state level gold medals under-18 category in 2011. Three gold medals at East Zone Junior Athletics Championship in 2011, two gold medals each in 2008 and 2009 and Silver medal at Patna in 2007 are her major zonal level wins. 2012 has been the golden period of her athletic career. In 2012, she became a national level champion in the under-18 category and won the bronze in the 200 metres event at the Asian Championships in Pune. Same year she became the first Indian athlete final of a global athletics 100 meters final, following her outstanding performance at 2013 World Youth Championships. She became the national champion in 100 metres and 200 metres also.
