Disco Shanti Biography

Disco Shanti is a south Indian actress better known as item girl of 1980’s. She has appeared in glamorous avatars through various roles in movies. Though the movie ‘The dirty picture’ was based on the life of actress Silk Smita, the story also contains some elements of this dancer actress. Though she appeared in almost all regional language movies including Hindi, she has been mostly associated with south Indian cinema, particularly Tamil and Telugu. Known as the top item girl in the late 1980’s, she was a tough competitor to Silk Smitha those days. She was married to Tamil film actor, Srihari who died most recent in 2013 while shooting for the Bollywood movie R... Rajkumar. He was only 49 then. Her sister Lalitha Kumari is a trained Bharatnatyam dancer, ex-wife of noted film actor Prakash Raj.

She was introduced as a heroine in Tamil movies. But she was not successful as an actress and thus she moved to glamorous roles and dancer roles and gained huge popularity. Though she proved herself to be a good actress, she didn’t have a shining acting career. She is the daughter of Tamil actor "Vijayapuri Veeran" C.L Anandan. She fell in love with Tamil actor Srihari and they got married in 1998. After that she said good bye to the film industry.

She appeared in Bollywood movies too as a singer cum dancer or in guest role. Khuli Khidki, Kanoon Apna Apna, Radha Ka Sangam, Bhagyawan, Dullara, Aatank, Naajayaz, Asmaan Se Ooncha, Jamai Raja, Ghayal, Kabzaa, Jungle Love: A Tarzan Film, Gunahon Ka Devta and Sheela are her noted Bollywood appearances.
