Srihari Biography

Srihari was a south Indian film actor known for lead and supporting roles. He was most successful in Tollywood and has delivered some memorable roles. He died on 9 October 2013 at Mumbai while he was shooting for Prabhu Deva’s Bollywood movie, R…Rajkumar. He was only 49 then and was suffering from liver ailments. He was married to noted item song dancer of 1980’s, Disco Shanti. Noted Bharatnatyam dancer, Lalitha Kumari who was earlier married to National award winning actor, Prakash Raj is his sister-in-law. He started his career as a stunt fighter and later moved to supporting and lead roles. ‘Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana’ is one of the memorable movies of his career which earned him best supporting actor award at Filmfare and Nandi awards for the year 2005. When he died, he owned 98 released movies and 2 yet-to-release movies in his credit.

He started his association with the tinsel world in 1986 with the film ‘Thirugbaatu.’ Then he worked asa stunt performer and villain and struggled for about a decade till he got his first lead role in the year 1999. Telugu movie, Police marked his new innings as a lead actor. One year before, he married Shanti, with whom he fell in love during one of the film shootings. After that he appeared in about 3 dozen movies in lead roles before moving to supporting roles with mid 2000’s. He was very serious about fitness and would have become a gymnastic if he has not reached movies.

Srihari was born in Vijayawada, Krishna district and the family moved to Hyderabad. He lost his daughter Akshara when she was only 4 months old and in her memory Srihari started Akshara Foundation and also adopted 4 villages. When he died, he was buried next to his daughter's grave.
