Amit Panghal Biography

Amit Panghal is an Indian sportsman from Rohtak, Haryana. He is associated with boxing. An amateur boxer by profession, he won the bronze medal at the 2017 Asian Amateur Boxing Championships in the light flyweight category. It’s his most memorable win in his international professional career. He also won the silver medal at 2018 Commonwealth Games in the same category. Panghal won the gold medal at the Strandzha Cup in Sofia in 2018. So 2017-2018 period remained excellent for Amit’s career.

 

Amit Panghal was born on 16 October 1995 in Mayna village of Rohtak district, Haryana. He was born into an agriculturist family, and his father is a farmer. His elder brother Ajay Panghal works in Indian army. It was his elder sibling who inspired him to take boxing seriously as a professional career. Thus young Amit took boxing in 2009 while he was at school. Amit also works with Indian army, and he currently serves as a junior commissioned officer.

 

He received a gold medal in the 25th Sub-Junior National Boxing Championship. Whenever he participates, he has a habit to return with a medal. Panghal also claimed best boxer titles at multiple state-level championships before he appeared in national championships for the first time in 2017, and won a gold medal too.

 

Since then he has registered many national and international wins in his name. Silver medal at 2018 Commonwealth Games, bronze medal in the light flyweight category of Asian Amateur Boxing Championships in 2017 and gold medal at the Strandzha Cup in 2018 are his big wins up-to-date. He also got qualified for the 2017 AIBA World Boxing Championships, but couldn’t survive before Olympics gold medal winner, Hasanboy Dusmatov.
