Ali Zafar Biography

Ali Zafar is a Pakistani musician, composer, singer, song writer, painter and film actor who works for Bollywood as well. As a Bollywood hero, his debut movie was the comic flick – Tere bin ladan (2011) which was critically and commercially well accepted. His second movie was Love ka the end, where he appeared in the song – Fun fanna. His third movie was ‘My brother ki dulhan’ in which he worked aside Imran Khan and Katrina Kaif. The movie was scripted and directed by Ali Abbas Zafar. It was well received and a musical hit too. He sung Madhubala song in the movie. His performance in the movie helped him to earn Stardust Award 2012 – Superstar Of Tomorrow Male award and after that, he began to see his acting career seriously along with his music. He has also nominated for Filmfare Best Male Debut Award (Tere bin ladan) and has appeared in the successful movies – Chashme baddoor and London, Paris, New York. Now he is equally popular in India as Pakistan. Zafar has won three MTV Style Awards, three Lux Style Awards, three Indus Music Awards and one Stardust Awards.

Ali Zafar was born into a Muslim family in Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan. He started his singing career with the song Jugnuon Se Bhar Le Aanchal in the Pakistani film Shararat. But it was his first music album – Huqa pani and its song Channo that made him an overnight star. It sold over five million copies worldwide thus becoming one of the top albums of Pakistan all time. Gradually through his effort, he become the most versatile singer in the modern generation with a distinct vocal tone and qualities, for both Sufi as well as Folk, singing even the most difficult singing notes surprising everyone.

The "Channo" song has been used by Pritam as "Chori ki Baatein" in the film Fight Club. As a singer, a few of his hit songs from Bollywood are - Dhichkyaaon Doom Doom and Andha Ghoda Race of Chashme Baddoor, Bas Ek Soch and Ullu Da Pattha of Tere bin ladan and Voh Dekhnay Mein, London Paris New York and Ting rang of London Paris New York.
