Adiyeri Gangadharan Biography

Adiyeri Gangadharan is a noted writer of Malayalam. He is known as a poet and editor of Mahe books & Bharathdesom Books, Mahe. He is a recipient of Pondicherry Government's Malayala Ratna Award 2003 and he was honoured for his overall contributions to Malayalam literature. Thulika award, Chakyar Vinodam award, Navakam award and Chilanka award are the other major awards received by him. He is the Founder, Publisher & Editor of the Malayalam magazine, Bharatha Desom. He is married to C. K. Valsala and the couple has one son. Now he is currently settled in Mahe. He is a former Municipal Commissioner of Mahe.

 

He was born on February 20, 1944 in Thalassery, Kerala. He founded Bharatha Desom magazine in the year 2008 March, published in Malayalam. It’s based on News and Current affairs and published from Mahe, where Adiyeri Gangadharan is currently settled. This magazine promotes the literary activities of well-known and budding writers in Malayalam. Adiyeri is known as a noted writer of present times and has published many books on poems, stories as well as plays. He is active in writing till now and many of his works have been published post 2000’s.

 

His short stories are filled with humour and belong to satire genre. Krishnan Unniyude Training published in 2007 and Chiripikunna Erupathu Kadhakal (published most recently in 2012) are his satire works. He has published a couple of plays - Hotel De Amsterdam (2004) and Kalolsava Ekangangal (2011). Kavyadarshanam (2004), Kayvyamanjeri (2005), Vishu Vilakku (2007), Ammayum Kunjum (2007) and 15 Onakkavitakal (2010) are his poetry anthology collections. Currently he serves as the Chairman Mahe Writer's Forum.
