Haridwar

One of the holiest cities for followers of Hindu religion Haridwar is famous with different names which consists of five holy Puris namely Jwalapur, Kankhal, Mayapuri, Bhimgoda and Kushavrat. According to Puran Brahma had held Virat Yagya in Haridwar at Brahma Kund near the famous Vishnu temple having footmarks of Lord Vishnu is located at Har Ki Pouri.

Why People go to Haridwar    

As the name suggests, the place is like gate of the heaven and millions of people who visit and take a holy dip here in Hari Ki Pouri get the same result what they would get in return of a Pundrika Yagya . Pilgrims visiting and staying here overnight get same credit as they will get in return of donation of thousand cows (Godaan) they become entitled to live in heaven after their death.

Moksha

Pilgrims come here from allover the world in search of Moksha ‘the total freedom’ from this world forever, never to return on Earth. According to Hindu beliefs people come to Haridwar with remains of their departed relatives to dispose their ashes in Saptaganga, Triganga, and Shkravat for last rituals which take place according to family traditions of the departed soul. After this particular ritual if, the relatives take holy bath at Kankhal and keep fast for three consecutive days they also become eligible for “Heaven” after their death.

Har Ki Pouri

One of the most visited places in Haridwar is Har Ki Pouri also called Hari Ki Pauri. As per the common belief, the journey to Haridwar is not complete until the pilgrims have not taken a holy dip here. The evenings have so much to offer to visitors in form of Maha- Arti, which is one of the most revered rituals in the name of Mother Ganga. It is amazing to see thousands of floral boats with lit small earthen pots floating in Ganga and thousands devotees chanting praise collectively. Bhimgoda, situated near Hari Ki Pouri, has a small tank near the Shiva temple that always remains filled with Ganga water.

Mansa Devi Temple

Mansa Devi temple is important as Har Ki Pouri where a visit is considered must. Visitors can walk to the temple through stairs or take a ropeway. A common belief among the devotees visiting Mansa Devi Temple is that if a devotee asks for a particular wish from Mother Mansa Devi and tie a Kalava (Holy red colored thread) on a tree branch out side the temple, his wish is certainly granted. People come to visit again and untie the thread once their wish is fulfilled, although it is not mandatory.
