The world famous holy Dargah (Shrine) of Sufi sect, the symbol of unity is located in Ajmer. Better known as Ajmer Sharif, the Dargah of first Pagamber Moiuddin Chishti is famous allover the world where people from all religion gather to pay their respect to great saint who lived and died for spreading love. Born in Sistan, in Iran in early 14th century who underwent his religious training under Ibrahim Kandoji went to Samarkand after donating all his property among the poor to preach and study religion. 

Later he went to Medina for most sacred religious travel for Muslims and came to India via Baghdad. After staying in Delhi and Lahore for some time, he came down to Ajmer to settle as a Muslim preacher who spread love and value of unity. He spent rest of his life in Ajmer where he died at the age of 97. The Dargah is tomb of Khwaja the Pagamber where people from allover the world come for ten days’ special gatherings known as Urs. 

Ajmer is famous as an International pilgrimage center the world over, where people from all religions visit to attend annual Urs function at the tomb of saint. This place is famous as Dargah Shareef, which is divided into three sections. The first part has Nakkarkhana or announcement center, Shahi and Akbari mosques. The second part has Small and big vessels and community eating center and third has Sandal Khana Mosque, Roja Munavarra, Bahishiti gate, Oulia Mosque and Langarkhana etc. 

The Dargah has arrangements of feeding thousands of people every day where meals are cooked in very big cooking utensil provided by Emperor Akbar with capacity to cook almost 40 quintals of rice at one time and other one by Emperor Jahangir with little lesser capacity. Hundreds of quintals of food is cooked every day for visitors and poor people of the area, which is considered as part of religious importance for ever visitor. The doors of Dargah Shareef are open for all religions. Millions of visitors, who visit the holy place, consider themselves lucky to have come to the symbol of secularism, love and peace.
