The Test match between India and Australia at Hyderabad has thrown up many a record. Almost all the records are one of a kind and are very interesting. Some of the records are individual; some are partnership records, while some are team records. There are many such records. Let us have a look at some only prominent of them.

Cheteshwar Pujara – Second Fastest Indian To 1000 Runs

Cheteshwar Pujara has become the second Indian to reach to 1000 runs in a record time after Vinod Kambali. Kambali took just 14 innings to reach the four digit mark. His 1000th run came against West Indies in Mumbai in the 1994-95 season. Cheteshwar Pujara required four more innings than Kambali and got to the mark in 18 innings.

As far as the number of Tests is concerned, both Cheteshwar Pujara and Sunil Gavaskar share the same spot. Both required 11 Test to complete one thousand runs. However, it is the lesser number of innings that puts Cheteshwar Pujara ahead of Gavaskar.

The third in the list comes the Little Master, Sunil Gavaskar. He took 21 innings to reach the thousand run mark. Against England at Kanpur in 1972-73 Sunil Gavaskar completed 1000 runs, who went on to score 10,122 runs in Test cricket until he retired.

Sanjay Manjarekar reached to his milestone of 1000 runs in the 1990 season against England. The match was being played at Manchester. Rahul Dravid is the next at number 5. In 23 innings he scored the 1000 runs. The opponent that India was playing against was West Indies in Georgetown in 1996-97.

The next five batsmen, who complete the list of the top 10 batsmen to reach fastest to 1000 runs are, Saurav Ganguly in 23 innings, Virender Sehwag in 24 innings, Vijay Hazare in 25 innings, Sandip Patil in 25 innings and Mohd. Azharuddin in 25 innings as well. So, there are three players who share the same number of innings – 25.

If we were to add one more name, then the list goes to 11. However, S. Ramesh also required 25 innings to reach the mark. Then, there will be four players who completed the thousand runs in 25 innings each.
