A Few Tourist Spots Of Malabar And Central Kerala

 

Kerala – God’s own country and one among the top tourist destinations of the world. North Kerala is formally mentioned as Malabar. So, let us go for a visit to some wonderful tourist locations of Malabar and central Kerala.

Silent valley of Palakkad – Not only Lion tailed Macaque, you can also find many other endangered species in this valley. Attappadi tribal area is a part of Palakkad. Nelliyambathi is a high range area famous for oranges and wild animals like lion, leopard and tiger. Pothundi Dam, Jain temple, Kalpathi, home of Kunchan Nambiar, Chittur Ashram where Ezhuthachan spent his last days are a few more destinations.

Thrissur – Though museum and zoo are there in main town, Thrissur is famous for Kerala Kalamandalam of Cheruthuuthi, Cherman Mosque (first mosque in India) and St. Thomas Church of Kodungallur, Chimni and Peechi dams etc. Yet the main tourist spot of Thrissur is Aathirapally waterfalls. Guruvayur Krishna temple and Vadakkumnathan are also famous.

District of Ezhuthachan – Nilambur is the main tourist spot of Malappuram. Teak museum, Aadyanpara waterfalls and Kadalundi bird sanctuary can also be visited once. You can also visit the native place of ‘Father of Malayalam’.

Gentle sea breeze of Kannur – There are many historical events associated with sea shores of Kannur. Pazhassinikavu snake sanctuary, Paithan Mountain, Aaralam wild life sanctuary, Araikkal, Bungalow of Herman Gundert and Fort of Thalassery are other wonderful tourist destinations.

In the land of Zamorins – Thushara giri is a nice place to visit in Kozhikode – place suited for trekking and famous for ‘Thaani muthassi’. V. K. Krishnan Nair museum, Vasco da gama’s memorial at Kappad, Kottakkal Kunjali Marrakkar, Iringal Craft village and Turtle sanctuary at Kolavi are a few more destinations.

Wayanad – The land close to nature – One of the best tourist locations of Kerala, land known for its greenery and bliss – Wayanad. Waterfalls, historical remains and wild life sanctuaries – What else is needed! Remains of primitive ages are found in Edakkal caves. Old memories of life style of people belonging to centuries ago are placed in Wayanad Ambalavayal museum. Muthanga and Tholpatti are famous for wild life sanctuaries. Pazhassi memorial at Mananthavadi and Kuruva Island are worth to watch once.

The land of Yakshaganam - Bekal fort of Kasaragod is 300 years old and oldest of all forts of Kerala.  It’s the land of Yakshaganam where you can get acquainted with its artists. Ranipuram and Kottangeri mountain ranges are best for trekking.
