Saina Nehwal And Indian Badminton

Saina is back to No2 position
The Indian badminton fans have something to celebrate in the end as our star badminton player Saina Nehwal is back on number 2 slot. She lost the final of All England Championship final to Carolina Marin of Spain but still managed to reach to position number two.  Incidentally, Saina Nehwal, the Olympic bronze medalist had never lost to Carolina before and would have become the first Indian woman to win All England badminton championship. But this was not to be as she lost 21-16, 14-21, 7-21, despite winning the first game so easily.

Saina the top badminton player
In fact, Saina has been surprising her fans with her strange decisions for quite some time now. First she took the decision of breaking up her contact with her long time coach Gopichand and then making controversial statements about Padma awards in the Indian media which was not considered right for a player of her status. Everyone thought Saina is a senior player and would be considered for the award when her turn came so making statements in media was kind of setting wrong trends.

Saina the player
All said and done the runners up of All England Saina Nehwal is back in limelight in the nation’s sporting arena.  She is one of the top most players who have put the name of India on the sport’s world map. She did the same to badminton what Sania Mirza did to women’s tennis in this country. In fact, many new women players are coming up getting inspired by Saina’s success.  For instance PV Sindhu, another world class woman player is fast coming up and giving a tough competition to Saina Nehwal.

Conclusion
The best that has happened to Indian badminton is that Saina is back on track as a star leaving her recent failures in the past and now India stands a far better chance of achieving success in coming.
