Champaran is a historic place located near Raipur. It is noted for the agitation of farmers against the indigo cultivators. Mahatma Gandhi visited Champaran and the Champaran Satyagraha started. Gandhi’s arrival at Champaran was prohibited by British and after long struggle, the ban was lifted. Champaran became the place where the non-violence was successfully put to test and so this remains an important place of Indian history that makes it worth visiting.
