The Clock Tower in Lucknow is situated here Rumi Darwaza and was built in the year 1881. It is a majestic tower standing to a height of 67 meters and is the tallest clock tower in India. It is designed of European style and a part of it was built of pure gunmetal. The pendulum of the clock is 14 feet long. The dial of the clock in the clock tower is designed as the 12 petals of the flower with bells around it. It was constructed by Nawab Muhammad Ali Shah. It is also called Sathkhanda meaning seven storied tower. However it has only four stories as the construction was stopped on his sudden demise in 1840.
