This was a meeting house in Fatehpur Sikri built by Mughal Emperor Akbar in 1575 A.D. Initially this was opened only to Muslims but later people of other religions were allowed to participate. Every Thursday evening Akbar invited religious leaders and philosophers for discussions.

In 1580s Akbar launched his new faith Din-i-Ilahi here which is aimed at the reconciliation of different religions from this building.
