Zhu Zhu Biography

Zhu Zhu is a Chinese actress and singer who works in Indian films too. She rose to fame as a VJ on MTV China, and made her Bollywood debut opposite Salman Khan in the year 2017, through the war film, Tubelight released in 2017. The film opened to mixed reviews and was only moderate successful at box office. She played the female lead role of Li Leing, Gu's mother in the film. She played the role of a Chinese mother in the film which was made in the backdrop of Indo-Chinese war of 1962. Zhu Zhu also appears in Chinese movies and short films.

 

Zhu Zhu was born on July 19, 1984 in Beijing, China. Her father is a businessman, and she is the granddaughter of Zhu Xuzhi, a former major general of the People's Liberation Army. Zhu started to learn the piano at the age of 3, and has performed as an actress on stage show while at school. Zhu graduated from Beijing Technology and Business University. Zhu joined the MTV China in 2005, and hosted music programs. Incidentally she won a local singing contest in Beijing, and since then she concentrated on to singing career as well.

 

In 2010, Zhu made her film debut in What Women Want, and after that she appeared in several Chinese films such as The Man with the Iron Fists, Shanghai Calling, Secret Sharer, Cloud Atlas etc in minor and supporting roles. She got her first major break in a lead role through the series, Great Mr. Zhou for which she earned critical acclaim for the performance. Zhu played the female lead in the film Last Flight in 2014, and also starred in American TV series Marco Polo the same year. In 2016, she marked her Bollywood debut through Tubelight, directed by Kabir Khan, where she was paired with Salman Khan.
