Yasmin Daji is a former model and beauty queen who was crowned as the third runner-up at Miss Universe 1966, held on 16 July 1966 at the Miami Beach at Florida, USA. She was crowned by previous year’s winner Margareta Arvidsson of Sweden at the end of the event. Among the 58 entrants for the contest, 15 were chosen for the placements from which she finished at position 4. She won the title at the age of 21. At the Femina Miss India 1966 contest, she won the title Miss India and subtitle Miss Beautiful Smile. Yasmin is a medical doctor by profession. It was the year 1966 India won an international beauty pageant title for the first time. Quite surprisingly Indian beauties Yasmin Daji and Reita Faria brought fame to India the same year.

She was born in 1947 in New York to Indian parents. She moved to Delhi, India, where she completed her MBBS degree from Lady Hardinge medical college, Delhi. She participated in the beauty pageant, Femina Miss India 1966, where she emerged as the winner. She was crowned the title of Miss India, and thus she got the opportunity to represent India at Miss Universe 1966 beauty pageant held at Florida. After becoming Miss Universe 3rd runner up, she became a celebrity overnight. She was only the fourth model from India, after Indrani Rehman, Meher Castelino Misri and Persis Khambatta to represent India at Miss Universe contest. Surprisingly Reita Faria won Miss World title the same year, thus bringing two beauty pageant titles to India.

Very soon she endorsed many leading brands of the country and was a common face of many cosmetic products. She is regarded as one among the most beautiful figures of Indian modelling industry. Known to be one of the most beauty faces of 1960s, her name is mentioned in the famous book Pride of India by former Miss India Persis Khambatta, who crowned her Miss India in 1966. After finishing her studies as a medical student, she returned to New York, where she got married and settled with family life. She has two sons.
