Naveeda Mehdi is a former Indian model, best known for her appearance in Instant Karma's music video ‘Dil Kya Kare’ – the remixed version sung by the popular playback singer Shaan in 1997. The musical album was an instant hit. Naveeda Mehdi was crowned Miss India world in 1990 and represented India for Miss World pegeant in 1990, though she couldn’t win it. Same year she appeared in one Hollywood movie - 'Princess from Kathmandu' where she played the title role of a princess and later appeared in one television series on Indian television - Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki, where she played the role of a blind girl – Khushi Kantilal Shah who was brutally raped.

Naveeda Mehdi was born in Mumbai. Naveeda started off her career as a model and was crowned as Miss India world in 1990 (First Runner-up of Miss India beauty pageant). Though she represented India at Miss World contest, she couldn’t win it. But her stint in modelling helped her to sign her first Hollywood movie - 'Princess from Kathmandu' in 1990. She played the title role of the princess of Kathmandu, visiting England who is befriended by two men with criminal backgrounds. She worked with   Alan Billingham, Ken Braithwaite, Val Braithwaite and Indian actor Prem Chopra for the movie. The movie was directed by Arjun Gaur. The movie went unnoticed.

Her big break was the music album, Dance Masti of instant Karma released in 1997. With a single music video, she became a star. ‘Dil Kya Kare’ was the remixed version of the romantic track from Julie, composed by R. D. Burman and sung by Kishore Kumar. Dil Kya Kare - The Love Is... Mix belongs to the popular album – Dance Masti, one of India’s top seller remixed albums of 1990s. The song topped all music charts and Mehdi’s beauty with some beautiful black & white shots was highlighted.
