Vishnu Unnikrishnan Biography

Vishnu Unnikrishnan is a budding young actor associated with Malayalam cinema, who shot to fame playing leading role in Malayalam super hit, Kattappanayile Rithwik Roshan, released in 2016. The film directed by Nadirshah earned him fame and recognition among Malayali audience. Earlier he has worked as child artist and also in character roles in Malayalam cinema. He is also a talented scriptwriter who co-scripted the films, Amar Akbar Anthony (2015) and Kattappanayile Hrithik Roshan (2016), aside Bibin George, and both the films were commercially successful. Nadirshah directed both these films, which helped him to move to the league of successful directors.

Vishnu Unnikrishnan hails from Ernakulam and was born in the year 1987. He was born to Unnikrishnan & Leela as their second child. He has two sisters. As a teenager he was first seen in the film, Ente Veedu Appuvinteyum released in 2003. He was 16 when he got his first break to films. Since then he had a brief stint in acting and appeared in a few more films before he took a break in 2007. Mayavi, Kadha Parayumbol, Palunk, Amrutam, Rappakal etc are some of his films during this period.

After a break of 5 years, he returned to film industry through the film, Pottas Bomb in 2012. Since then he mostly played character roles, but none of them were significant enough. In 2015, he co-scripted Amar Akbar Antony aside Bibin George, the movie which marked the directorial debut of Nadirshah.

2016 proved to be the turning point of his career when Nadirshah signed him as lead hero for Kattappanayile Rithwik Roshan. He also teamed up with Bibin George for the film, which got attention for its unique film title and powerful script. His role as Kichu, a villager who aspires to become a film actor was highly appreciated. He also received Asianet film awards for Best script and Vanitha Film Awards 2017 for Best Debut for Kattappanayile Rithwik Roshan.
