Vijay Deverakonda Biography

Vijay Devarakonda is a very popular actor associated with Telugu films, best known for the blockbuster hit, Arjun Reddy released in 2017. Vijay also owns a few more hit films in Telugu, and is now one of the most popular young and influential actors. Yevade Subramanyam (2015) and Pelli Choopulu (2016) are other major hits. He rose to stardom with the release of Arjun Reddy last year. He is the son of Deverakonda Govardhan Rao, a popular actor of Telugu cinema and television, and also an ad-film maker.

Vijay Devarakonda was born into a filmy family of present day Telangana state. His father Deverakonda Govardhan Rao works in films, television and ad industry. Vijay’s school education was completed from Hyderabad and Puttaparthi. Returning to his hometown, Hyderabad, he continued his education and took graduation. Before joining films he had a brief stint in theatre while at Hyderabad, and also did a 4-month workshop and plays later. Vijay was seen onscreen for the first time in a brief role of Ravi Babu's Nuvvila in 2011 and Sekhar Kammula's Life is Beautiful. He marked his debut with 2015 movie Yevade Subramanyam alongside actor Nani. The film went on to be a commercial success and established him as an actor.

His next lead role was for Pelli Choopulu, a romantic coming-of-age entertainer directed by Tharun Bhascker Dhaassyam. The movie also went on to become a box office hit and won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Telugu for the year 2016. It was followed by Dwaraka, which registered success and Arjun Reddy in 2017. His titular role in Arjun Reddy earned him rave reviews, and also helped him to bag Zee Telugu Golden Awards 2017 for Best Actor. Mahanadi, Taxiwala and NOTA are his upcoming projects.
