Though Vijay Arora is a least known actor, music lovers who love old R.D.Burman compositions can never forget Vijay Arora’s performance in ‘Chura liya’ song of Yadom ki Barat. The evergreen romantic song beautifully sung by Rafi and Asha was lovely presented on the screen by Vijay Arora with guitar and Zeenat Aman. Same is the case of the song, ‘Oh mere soni’ of the same movie. Though the movie was a blockbuster of the year 1973 and his performance as the leading hero of the multi-starrer movie was well noticed, he didn’t get significant works in Bollywood. Yet he managed to do more than 110 feature films including other regional languages like Gujarati. But he was a successful TV serial actor who has done more than 500 serial episodes. Most noted works include the role of Indrajith in Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayana and as Prince Salem in Shyam Benegal’s Doordarshan serial ‘Bharat ek khoj’.

He left the acting institute ‘Film and television institute of India’ with a gold medel before joining the industry. He debut Bollywood along with another newcomer Reena Roy in Zaroorat in 1972 and during the first half of 70’s he was an active artist who has been paired with many leading ladies of B’Town including Zeenat Aman, Asha Parekh, Shabana Azmi, Jaya Bhaduri and Parveen Babi. He was even paired with less famous artists like Bindiya Goswami and Mausmi Chaterjee during the second half of 70’s. Slowly his Bollywood career degraded and he did less significant roles of Rajesh Khanna’s block buster Roti and during 1980’s, he concentrated in Doordarshan serials that brought him fame and popularity among Indian homes. His popular movies during 70’s include Phagun, Yaadom ki baraat, Bade dilwale, 36 Ghante, Jeevan Jyothi, Insaaf, Kadambari and Natak. During the later stage of his life he did character roles in movies like Jaan tere naam and Indian Babu.In most movies, he was seen as a common man or a villager.
