Varun Sharma Biography

Varun Sharma – the new kid on the block is an actor associated with Bollywood, best known for playing character and comic roles. Most recently he was seen playing the role of a local thief cum Varun Dhawan’s friend in Shah Rukh Khan-Kajol starrer Dilwale (2015). After featuring in commercial ads, he came to limelight for the first time through the movie – Fukrey (2013), his debut film. Dolly Ki Doli, Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon, Warning, Yaaran Da Katchup and Rabba Main Kya Karoon are other releases. Varun has excelled in comic roles till now. He is quite popular among the youth.

Varun is a resident of Jalandhar, Punjab. He studied at The Lawrence School in Sanawar followed by APJ School in Jalandhar. Later he completed graduation in Media, Entertainment and Film Technology from Chandigarh. Since then he regularly appeared in TV commercials and some of his noted appearances include - Virgin Mobile, Airtel, Ebay and Nissan Micra. Initially appearing in commercials, he made his magic debut to Bollywood through the parallel lead role of Choocha in Fukrey (2013), who make lottery winning predictions. Fukrey earned him many awards and nominations. He won Zee Cine Awards and Star Guild Awards for Best performance in a comic role, while earned nominations for Most Promising Debut – Male at Star Guild Awards and Best performance in a comic role at Screen Awards.

Dolly Ki Doli (2015) – is one of his noted appearances after that. He shared screen space with Sonam Kapoor, Pulkit Samrat and Rajkummar Rao for the movie. He played the role of Delhi boy Manjot in the movie. Dilwale (2015) is his latest release in which he entertained audience with his comic timing. As a part of preparations for his debut movie, he spent 15 days in Jamunapaar, near Delhi to learn Delhi dialect.  He also spent time with school kids and college and picked up their way of speaking and body language.
