Vanitha Krishnachandran Biography

Vanitha Krishnachandran is a south Indian film actress known for supporting and character roles. She has appeared in nearly 150 movies belonging to all south Indian languages. She is married to Malayalam film actor, Krishnachandran. They have appeared as couple onscreen for the movies - Vanithapolice, Belt Mathai, and Deeparadhana. The couple has one daughter – Amritavarshini born in the year 1990. At present she is most active in television serials – both Malayalam and Tamil. Alaigal and Kolangal are her most popular television serials in the recent times. She is known for portraying mother roles in the recent times and Tamil movies like Kana Kandaen, Kalabha Kadhalan and Parijatham are the best instances.

She was born to Keralite father and Tamilian mother. The family had permanently settled at Tiruchirappalli. She debut silver screen at the age of 14. She played the role of a school girl in Dorai's `Paadai Maarinaa’ which happened to be her debut movie. `Chandrabimbam’ was her debut Malayalam movie in which she played lead heroine’s role. Later she appeared in Malayalam movies like `Eenadu,' Vikadakavi', `Keezhvanum Sivackum’, `Kaikeyi,' and `Enickum Oru Divasum’ during the 1980’s.  She got married to her co-star Krishna Chandran in 1986 and took a break from the industry. Later she came back to silver screen in supporting roles in 1990’s.

Now she is active in silver screen doing mother roles. Now she plays mother roles of heroes’ sons with whom she has played lead role in the 1980’s. For instance she played the mother’s role of Prithviraj in Memories and Dulquar Salman in Neelakasham Pachakadal Chuvanna Bhoomi. She is a household name of television viewers too. Amma Manasu is her most popular Malayalam serial.
