Vaishnavi Mahant Biography

Vaishnavi Mahant is an Indian actress best known for playing the female protagonist in the first Indian fictional superhero series – Shaktimaan. This most popular television series on Doordarshan was telecasted in the late 1990s and she played the lead character, a reporter named Geeta Vishwas opposite Mukesh Khanna in the series. She has also appeared in Bollywood movies - Bambai Ka Babu, Barsaat Ki Raat, Laadla, Babul etc. Currently she plays the role of Shail Dayal Garg in popular television series - Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke. Miley Jab Hum Tum is one of her popular roles on television, where she portrayed the role of Shilpa Sharma. She played lead role opposite Mukesh in 1997 Malayalam movie - Oru Mutham Mani Mutham.

She was born in Mumbai on December 9th, 1972. Her family moved to Hyderabad. She was born to Hindu father and Christian mother and raised as a Hindi. She later converted to Christianity. She completed graduation before entering entertainment world. She is a theater artist. Once she got opportunity to appear in a bit role in Ramsay Brothers' horror film Veerana at the age of 8. That’s how entertainment industry fascinated her and she decided to work in movies. She appeared in a few Bollywood movies. Yet her Bollywood career was not so promising and she moved to small screen.

She shot to instant success after playing the role of report Geeta Vishwas in popular television series – Shaktimaan. Later she came to be known in the industry with this single character she played on mini screen. She also anchored a few shows on television and concentrated her career on television series. She played the role of Inspector Shivangi Chauhan in “Karamyudh” aired on Doordarshan. ACP Ratna of Raju Raja Rajasaab is another noted role.
